Overview

Barrios Technology is seeking talented and passionate collegiate students to join our 2025 Internship Program. The Barrios Internship Program provides support to NASA Human Spaceflight Programs: The International Space Station (ISS), Commercial Crew Program (CCP), Gateway, Orion, and Commercial Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Development Program (CLDP), as well as Commercial Spaceflight initiatives at our corporate office at Johnson Space Center (Houston, TX).

Responsibilities

We are looking for talented and passionate collegiate students for the summer to join our Barrios Technology team. This is a unique opportunity for college students (Sophomore by credit or higher) to have an internship supporting the NASA Human Spaceflight Programs: The International Space Station (ISS), Commercial Crew, Gateway, Orion, and Commercial LEO Development Program (CLDP), as well as Commercial Spaceflight initiatives at our corporate office. This position could support one of the various human spaceflight teams: conducting mission analysis; systems integration across multiple disciplines; providing data analytics solutions; application development. The goal of this role is to introduce the successful candidate to multiple integration teams, while performing a project in a designated area to help with mission success. Each candidate will present an out-brief at the end of the internship.

Specific tasking may include, but is not limited to projects in the following areas:

  • Support to the International Space Station (ISS), Gateway, Orion, or Commercial LEO Development Program (CLDP) boards and panels, ISS Increment systems and payload planning and execution, cargo manifesting, resource and requirement management, and strategic through execute level research planning.
  • Create Data Analytic solutions supporting cross program integration.
  • Support IT teams for application development projects.
  • Support to Commercial Spaceflight projects in the Barrios corporate office.
  • Support data analysis, integration and presentation, problem resolution, strategic and programmatic assessments, process improvements and continued innovation, tool development, project management, and systems and project engineering.
  • Support requirements collection and management.
  • Support integrated modeling projects.
  • Support Communication and Outreach for various NASA programs
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

**This is an internship (intermittent) opportunity - the 2025 Internship Program is scheduled for May 2025 - August 2025 with additional opportunity to support through the year**

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Students must be actively pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering); Math; Science; Technology; or related field from an accredited college of university.
  • Sophomore credit equivalency (30-59 hours) with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).
  • Excellent communication skills (in both written and verbal), integration, coordination and presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team working skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team and independently.

Preferences:

  • Computer programming (Visual Basic, C#, Python, Java) is a plus.
  • Experience with SharePoint, Windchill, CAD modeling, or requirements management (e.g. DOORS).
  • Project or other leadership experience (in school, extracurricular, or internship), innovation or process improvement skills, ability to demonstrate technical understanding of complex situations and communicate to appropriate audience.

Essential Requirements: 

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.

  • Applicant selected may be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Work may involve sitting for extended periods.

  • Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary.
  • Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
  • Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)
  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.
